And Now It’s Back to Sucking for you Texas Tech.
Lubbock Texas’ favorite pirate lover and head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Mike Leach got canned (fired) this morning. And the freshest part of it is his lawyer recieved a letter of termination at the court house where Leach was filing a petition to get a restraining order on the University(?) to allow him to coach his team this weekend in the Alamo Bowl. Damn that’s a nice long sentence huh?

Two days before this mess, Leach was suspended by the school as it investigated his treatment of a player with a concussion. Something about putting the dude in a shed/storage closet or whatever during practice. The stories vary between officials and players both, so I’ll leave that up to my fine readers to figure this truth out.
In February, Leach and the school agreed to a five-year, $12.7 million contract. According to terms of the deal, Leach was due a $800,000 bonus on Dec. 31 if he were still the head coach at Texas Tech.
Oh today is the 30th…. Well now that’s convient isn’t it?
As reported by ESPN.com:
Leach was suspended by the university on Monday after receiver Adam James alleged the coach twice confined him to small, dark spaces while the team practiced. James is the son of former NFL player and ESPN analyst Craig James.
“We appreciate that the university conducted a fair and thorough investigation,” said a statement from the James family. “From the family’s point of view this has always been about the safety and well being of our son and of all the players on the team.”
In an affidavit included with his injunction request to coach the Red Raiders in the Alamo Bowl, Leach said he “would never intentionally harm or endanger a player” and that he had been “forced into this situation without being afforded any process.”
He wrote “absolutely” no evidence had been given to him that showed he had violated any university rules or standards.
“I have never and would never intentionally harm or endanger a player. I am committed to Texas Tech University and the well being of my football players. I have been forced into this situation without being afforded any process,” he said. “Not being allowed to coach immediately will cause irreparable harm because preparation for the game is ongoing and it will be over on January 2, 2009. Every minute of preparation is critical to be ready for the game.”
Time to start cheering for that swim team they have up there

Well with all that, good luck to going back to “Sucksville” Texas Tech. You had a really nice coach, although kinda of screwy, this guy put the Red Raiders on the map. Not to mention this is the same University(?) that hired Bobby Knight’s crazy ass.
Oh and Adam James…. good luck with all that.
