U.S. Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin put an end to all the speculation and guessing Tuesday morning by whipping together a press conference to introduce the 2010 U.S. Ryder Cup members.

And of course out of the 12 man team, he announced his first “Wild Card” players to just get that little nugget out of the way. Those “Cards” include Tiger Woods,(duh?) Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler.

“I am very pleased to add these four to Team USA,” Pavin said. “I think our team is very good. I think these four players complement those eight very well. That was the goal of these four players. “I’m very proud to have Team USA completely assembled now, and I’m looking forward to the matches in three weeks.”

After getting his suspention lowered to only 4 game instead of 6 by the NFL Commish, news comes down that Superbowl Champ and starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not voted team captain for the third season in a row. Team captains are voted on by the players and because of Ben’s punishment due to violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Ben will not be rocking the “C” this year.

Hines Ward would not reveal if other issues, particularly those off-the-field, affected the decision to not pick Roethlisberger as captain.

The Heisman Trophy Trust is expected to strip former USC running back Reggie Bush of his 2005 Heisman Trophy and leave the award vacant, Yahoo Sports reported.

All this will happen because The Heisman Trophy Trust believes that  Reggie Bush accepted improper benefits while at USC and was ineligible during the 2005 season. Well Duh? The NCAA cited USC for “lack of institutional control” and handed the Trojans four years’ probation, a two-year bowl ban and a reduction in football scholarships.

Side note: There has never been (in the 75 year history of the trophy) a Heisman taken away from a player. Hell even O.J. Simpson still has his.. well somewhere.

Just a day (Saturday) after being released by the Arizona Cardinals, two time National Champion and  Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart has been signed to the Houston Texans as the third string quarterback.

“I’m excited for this opportunity,” Leinart said after arriving in Houston on Monday night. “I’m looking for a new start. Obviously, things didn’t go the way I wanted (at Arizona), but it’s time to move on.

“The Texans are a great organization, and I’m really looking forward to working with coach Kubiak.”

I’m not seeing a reason to be mad right now about the 21 Grand Slam title winning Venus Williams outfit she rocked as she defeated No. 18 seed Shahar Peer in straight sets during their third-round match at the U.S. Open on Sunday. I guess I was raised differently.
