Of course 3 minutes into the Heavy weight MMA bout between Randy Couture and James Toney the boxing dude found himself against the cage, mounted and getting his face all smashed up. Luckily for boxer James “Lights Out” Toney, Randy “Freaking Captain America” Couture mercifully put him away with an arm triangle and let him rest peacefully. This fight was totally a joke. After ending up no his back in less that 10 seconds into the fight, Toney had no business in the ring with any MMA fighter let alone Couture who serves fools for breakfast.

The bigger story was BJ Penn Getting served again while trying to regain his light weight title at the hands of Frankie Edgar in a unanimous decision.

Newark New Jersey is the scene for Junior-welterweight bout between Jeremy “Hollywood” Bryan vs. Daniel “Super Sweet” Mitchell. First of all boxing nick names kick so much ass. Anyway the first (and only) round brought a stop to the match with Mr. Super Sweet (awesome!) throws in his own town complain of an elbow to the right eye. After the round Sweet sat on the stool and carried on about his LEFT eye being injured.

There won’t be any Hollywood ending for Manny and the Dodgers after they place the slugger on waivers today. Well at least we won’t have to see those hideous dreadlock wigs with the LA skullcaps anymore in the left field bleachers at Chavez Ravine. Here’s the story from espn.com

Teams will have until Friday afternoon to put in a claim on Ramirez. Any team that’s awarded the claim would have until Tuesday afternoon to work out a trade with the Dodgers and, because Ramirez has a full no-trade clause, get his approval to waive that clause and accept a deal.

Teams are not convinced the Dodgers would dump Ramirez’s contract on any club that claims him. The Dodgers, rather, are likely to explore a trade in which they pick up some of the money but receive a prospect or prospects in return, sources tell ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark.

On Tuesday, a league source told ESPNChicago.com that the Chicago White Sox would put in a claim on Ramirez once he hit waivers. FoxSports.com first reported the White Sox intended to make a claim.

However, every National League team will have the first chance to claim Ramirez. Waiver rules require that he pass through all NL clubs first before AL teams have an opportunity to put in a claim.

The structure of Ramirez’s contract might make him more attractive to teams interested in the slugger. Any team that made a move for Ramirez would owe him a prorated portion of his $20 million salary. However, about three-quarters of his salary is deferred.

If a team were to acquire Ramirez, it would owe him only $1.1 million for the rest of this season and about $3.3 million in deferred salary.

After years and years of some of the worst (best) throw-downs to ever be witnessed by young college kids human eyes and livers, the University of Miami has decided to add  ”sober monitors” to go along with the events. This will work out fine.

cincinnatinews reports:

Fraternities and sororities at Miami University will have to hire security at all off-campus events this year and designate more “sober monitors” to keep things from getting out of control.

Those are among several rules to be imposed on Miami’s Greek community after three sororities were suspended last year for drunken behavior and destruction of property. That included wild parties at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati and Lake Lyndsay Lodge in Butler County.

This does NOT sound like a situation The Rock would be proud of… At all.

The New Mexico Lobos soccer team has announced Tuesday that Elizabeth Lambert (the girl that just lost it and went absolutely bat shit crazy on BYU last year) has been reinstated after a lengthy suspension last year.

Lambert was expected to attend a news conference Tuesday with New Mexico head coach Kit Vela and New Mexico athletics director Paul Krebs, but she was a no show. The team has also closed their practices to the media. Lambert is expected to do interviews later in the season, but wants to move on from the incident and put focus on the team.
